This group is being started for women who live in the Kentlands , Gaithersburg or other areas and wish to meet other women who like to read women authors and make new friends. We will pick a book by a female author each month and meet to discuss it. Sometimes we may view movies that have been made from books and compare them to the book. This will be a chance to make this group what the members want it to be and to get an opportunity to get in on the beginning of the group as it forms.

Hey there. I'm hoping this book club will fill a gap that's missing in the local book club scene. I really enjoy reading books that are engaging and leave me feeling like I've learned something. I also really enjoy books that help me understand other people and where they are coming from. So I started this book club, which I've named 'People, Places, and Perspectives.' People - personal stories, psychology, sociology, anthropology Places - geography, culture, urban planning Perspectives - how ot …

The Leesburg Bluestockings gets its name from the 18th century literary club, The Blue Stocking Society. In 18th century England, Blue Stocking women supported each other in intellectual endeavors such as reading, artwork, and writing. The Leesburg Bluestockings meet once every six weeks to discuss "brainy" books. You may not wear stockings anymore (unless you're Kate Middleton!), but as women, we still need to carve out an intellectual forum. Join us!

This is a women's group for book clubs, happy hours, dinner nights, exercise - really anything that the group wants to do. We would like to have diverse activities, to appeal to different interests and groups. We encourage all members to suggest and schedule meetups, as we may not be available at times that are more convenient for others, or may not have the same interests as all members. The purpose of this group is to create a forum to make friends, form social connections in the area - and m …

Do you like to read about historical events that have shaped how we think about me …

I am a high school biology teacher who would like to have extra motivation to read science-related books and discuss them outside of school. These wouldn't be textbooks, they would be more "popular science" that are educational and entertaining as well! Authors will include Richard Dawkins, Natalie Angier, E.O. Wilson, Carl Sagan, and Rachel Carson among others. There are many of these that have been on my "to-do" list for a long time. Of course other science teachers would be great for this gro …
Can you spend hours in a book store? Is being in a book store almost as enticing as a shoe store? Could you spend all of your hard-earned money on books? Do you own more books than shoes? If your answer is "yes" to any of those questions, then join us! We meet the once a month to discuss a previously chosen book. We lean towards literary fiction and, to keep it interesting, we'll throw in a classic or two. Check us out!
SORRY, WE HAVE TO CLOSE OUR MEMBERSHIP DRIVE AT THIS TIME AS THE CLUB IS AT FULL CAPACITY. We will open again when participants drop out. Let us know of your interest in joining when openings occur!
