Join other 20- & 30-something ladies for a monthly brunch meet up to discuss the book of the month! Membership is currently full but may open up again soon! I started this group because I'm new to the Austin area, love to read and other book clubs I wanted to join were already full. This book club is perfect for women in their 20s and 30s north of Austin, including Cedar Park, Round Rock and Georgetown. The book club will meet once a month for a Sunday brunch to discuss that month's book. We m …

… What About The Books? The books will be easy and fun. Modern fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery, light literature, mild chick lit, and things of that sort. No heavy Russians as it would take me about three months to get through them with my current life. How Does This Work? There will be a new book discussion on the third Thursday of every month (give or take a few days). Hosting duties will cycle through the members and the host is responsible for picking the book, the theme of the ni …
I retired early to enjoy life after an all-consuming career, and have been looking for new friends who share the same interests. I love to read, and I love good wine! Do you? Let's get together to discuss a monthly book selection, drink some wine, and enjoy each others' company.
If you love great books, talking about great books and authors, and sharing and learning about new authors over good coffee, good food & good wine- this is the meetup group for you! I know there are plenty of book clubs in Austin, am in fact a member & event organizer of a great one already, and it inspired me to start another book club for Austin Women! I'm hoping to have a one Saturday afternoon a month meetup about the book voted on, and maybe throw in a few extra meetups a month just for fun …
As a newbie to Austin who needs to make some new girlfriends, I thought that creating a group that mixes my love for reading AND my love for good food was a win. It's not only a great way to meet new friends but also a surefire way to get to know some local eateries too! To get an idea of the sorts of books we'll read I would say that most of it will be contemporary fiction, although I'm open! Personally, I read mostly fiction and quite a lot of YA, especially fantasy/sci-fi.

ATTENTION WRITERS: No Meetups will be scheduled this summer. We will resume in the fall. Each month we read and discuss a book devoted to the craft of writing. "Do I have to read the book?" Although technically not required, it is preferred. Although the discussion can move off onto tangents, the focus will be primarily on the contents of the book. However, if you do not have time to read the entire book, reading SOME of it is perfectly acceptable. Even digesting a few o …
This group is called Misty Curious because I'm posting events that I am curious about. We will have speakers or discussions on a myriad of topics: Investing, Health, Sexuality, Wealth, Cooking, Relationships, Femininity & Masculinity, Books, etc. My curiosities grow everyday, so you'll never know what to expect... Just expect it to be deep and thought provoking!

I've studied Buddhism since 2002. I don't follow a set path, but have found wisdom in everything I've been exposed to. I'd like to find more wisdom from actual interaction and discussion with others. My first idea is to explore the book "Hardcore Zen" by Brad Warner. This punk rock musician turned Buddhist priest presents Buddhism using modern icons, recent history, and very down to earth symbolism to explain some of the most complex concepts of Buddhism in a very easy to,understand manner.

… Before I get into some background and go off on my long description (hehe), I will abbreviate my "description" for this group: This is intended to be an open forum and *community* in which any person (whether he/she is very familiar with Conversations with God, or has never read any of the books) may come to study and discuss the content of these books directly, and also come and expand on the content with personal experiences; unique ideas; and additional teachings from relevant subjects which …
Unfortunately, right now our club is full. Please check back in a few months if still interested. We like to keep it small so meaningful discussion can take place. So, at this time, no pendings are being accepted. Thank you.

This group is for anyone interested in learning more about Toltec wisdom and how to apply that wisdom in daily life. Although there are many definitions of "wisdom," my belief is that wisdom comes from applying knowledge to experience to discern the truth. So, my intention is not just to discuss knowledge that can be read in books -- it is to learn from what happens next, when that knowledge is applied to everyday experiences. My intention is also to provide the Toltec tools to the group that …

This group is going to study the books and lectures of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf education. During our Meetup study groups we will take turns reading from a selected book or set of lectures and discuss the material in order to gain a deeper understanding. Our meetups will be in the evening in Round Rock and possibly Cedar Park. Those interested in learning more about anthroposophy, Rudolph Steiner, or the basic underlying principles of the Waldorf philosophies are encouraged to join …

*This group is currently limited to attendees of Carrie's 2011 Fall workshop* Let's build on what we started at Carrie's class. We can post discussions on the message board like suggesting books to read, topics to discuss at our next play-date and ask for suggestions on new challenges that come up. Maybe you know of a cool lecture or event coming up. Feel free to post that or other ideas for gathering too. I think there's even a feature to take a poll.

Calling all Nerdfighters! We don't care if you are in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, or Alaska. All Nerdfighters welcome. I saw 1,100 of you at the Austin book signing (Jan 2012) of John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars" and was shocked that there is not an Austin Nerdfighter group. Austin Nerdfighters are focused on the reducing worldsuck part of Nerdfighteria. We each have a small role to play, wouldn't it be nice to have a group to talk about it with? This chapter will be primarily to suppo …

… That being said, we aim to keep those truly interested in the craft signed on by: 1) holding random meet and greets (where we get together to meet those in the group and just "talk shop"); 2) occassionally scheduling a sewing class (where fellow members volunteer to teach areas of sewing that are of high interest); 3) having booked open studio times a whole year in advance (which allow you a consistent time and place to get out and sew), and finally 4) encouraging member dues* (which help to kee …

This group is a men's only group in the Austin area to meet other like-minded spiritual men. Whether you are Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, New Age, Jewish, Pagan, Wiccan, just plain spiritual or all of the above, this is the place. We'll discuss books, meditate, walk in nature, possibly do some men's work from time-to-time once we build a more solid foundation and trust, and even do just regular ol' guy stuff with other like-minded guys. What the group is not, is an argument type of venue whe …
