“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss I've tried joining a few book clubs that were genre specific (chick lit), gender specific (chicks only), and author specific (Stephen King) but as none seemed to satisfy my palate, I thought I'd try to see if there were others like me, i.e. those who can equally enjoy the likes of Jane Austen, Stephen King, Shakespeare,Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz as well as nonfiction books (The …

The NYC book and pub crawl consists of three easy steps: meet at a local independent bookstore, buy a book, then meet at a local bar nearby to hang out with fellow bibliophiles.

That's right, we're a book club that doesn't even require you to read the book. Each meeting starts with a video or PDF presentation of the book's key concepts so you can learn everything you need to know just by attending the meeting. We'll discuss how we've applied the book's concepts to our businesses and then leave with an action plan to apply them starting immediately (if you don't use it, you lose it). I'd love book clubs if it wasn't for the reading. This club is about reading captivating articles of modest length, and then chatting about them over a drink. Articles can be about whatever we want: corruption, religion, Jesse Ventura, high school popularity, etc. We meet in Manhattan, usually in Union Square, the East Village or LES.

Ever since I was done with my art history degree, I've been missing the intense and insightful reading schedule I endured as a student. True, I still try to catch up with new publications, but I know I miss out a lot. So, I thought that doing it as a group may bring more motivation as well as enhance the understanding of serious writings about art through a stimulating discussion. If you share my interests in art history and criticism - do join. I see this as monthly book club/discussion group m …
