This is a new kind of book club! Lots of great movies were originally great books. So, we'll read the books that new movies are being adapted from (recent examples: Lord of the Rings, Sherlock Holmes, Fight Club, Twilight, The Lovely Bones - we'll do any book/movie combo, no biases), then go see the movies (Sunday morning matinees for fewer crowds and lower prices) and we'll talk afterwards all about what we thought: the similarities, differences, your likes, dislikes, etc. Some upcoming book/mo …

Hello, Our book club is open to all who share a specific interest in reading memoirs and would like to join us for brunch to discuss the current book. We limit each meeting to a small group (no more than 12 people) to so that everyone has a chance to get to know each other and to have a meaningful discussion of the memoir. In most cases, we choose memoirs that are available in paperback version and are available at the library. Please come to the brunch having already read the memoir so that yo …

Meet kindred book lovers in the Bergen/Rockland County area. While we occasionally read modern classics (Lolita, Catch-22), we read mostly classic works written before 1950 (check our calendar to sample our book selection). We emphasize novels and plays important within the history of literature or have some historical interest. We have friendly, topical discussions about what we enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and found interesting in our reading while making some literate friends in the process. GROUP …
If you are looking for a serious book club in which they discuss the deep meaning of the books please note this is not the one for you. We are a fun, sometimes serious, most times not so serious book club. We all enjoy reading (well of course we do) and have read some very good books and unfortunately a couple not so good books. Our discussions can last from five minutes to an hour and it really depends upon the book. We read primarily contemporary fiction, but we're open to anything. Some of ou …

Each month, we will read and discuss and/or write about a great classic written by various American or European authors. Some of these books we may have read as children or teens, others may be new to us, but all have had a significant impact on readers around the globe and are worth a read, or even a second read. We will meet at a coffee/tea shop or a wine bar each month to discuss the book of the month and share anything we have written about the book, if designated as an optional assignment.
We are a book club of women (mostly early 30s, some older, some younger) who have been meeting for about four years, but many of our members have moved out of the City so we're hoping for some new people to join. We usually discuss a book every 4-6 weeks over dinner, and read everything from chick lit to nonfiction; all suggestions are welcome. Please join us!

Also, wine and spirits!

That's right, we're a book club that doesn't even require you to read the book. Each meeting starts with a video or PDF presentation of the book's key concepts so you can learn everything you need to know just by attending the meeting. We'll discuss how we've applied the book's concepts to our businesses and then leave with an action plan to apply them starting immediately (if you don't use it, you lose it). Who Should Join Open to anyone who'd like to learn more strategies for improving their b …

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss I've tried joining a few book clubs that were genre specific (chick lit), gender specific (chicks only), and author specific (Stephen King) but as none seemed to satisfy my palate, I thought I'd try to see if there were others like me, i.e. those who can equally enjoy the likes of Jane Austen, Stephen King, Shakespeare,Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz as well as nonfiction books (The …

We will read one memoir each month, and meet toward the end of the month (tentatively last Saturday) for a few hours in the afternoon to discuss.

Articles can be about whatever we want: corruption, religion, Jesse Ventura, high school popularity, etc. We meet in Manhattan, usually in Union Square, the East Village or LES.
