Meet kindred book lovers in the Rockland/Bergen County area. While we may occasionally read a modern classic (Lolita, Catch-22), we read mostly classic works written before 1950 (check our calendar to sample our book selection). We emphasize novels and plays important within the history of literature or have some historical interest. We have friendly, topical discussions about what we enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and found interesting in our reading while making some literate friends in the process. G …

WE ARE CLOSED TO NEW MEMBERSHIP AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST The Westchester Women's Book Club is a reading and discussion group for women only. The group meets the last Wednesday of every month to discuss New Yorker essays and short stories. The PLUS is a pre-meeting, separate discussion of a book ( fiction or non-fiction ) chosen in advance by the group. A member may participate in The New Yorker meeting without joining the book discussion. All essays, short stories, and books are chosen at each meeting by the group. In some cases the group may decided to devote multiple sessions to a book.

Emily Books brings people together online to write about our monthly book club picks, but a lot of us have never met. Let's change that! Once a month, we'll have a (verrrrrrry) informal book club meeting in a bar, where we'll talk about the book we're reading and whatever else.

Join the NYC Bookclub for casual and fun book discussions. We always meet on the Upper East Side (UES). We like to spice it up a bit with some fun events like movie discussions related to a book we just read, listen to authors speak about their work, and other fun stuff! We are open to suggestions for books and events. The idea is to explore different genres and have fun.

This book club will cover great literary works such as Hemingway, Dickens, Shelley, Bronte, Milton, to more recent authors like...humm...let me think--okay---let's face it, English degree = reading lots of dead authors. But really, let's read everything worth reading. :) This group is aimed at mid-twenties to mid-thirties individuals who like to get together over drinks or a meal and have critical discussions about books. Please read on to find out how we run our book club! Each Meet Up will r …

We meet in room 508 at the NY Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street at Central Park West (entrance is on W. 64th Street) All are invited who look for a challenging yet satisfying discussion on some …
That's right, we're a book club that doesn't even require you to read the book. Each meeting starts with a video or PDF presentation of the book's key concepts so you can learn everything you need to know just by attending the meeting. We'll discuss how we've applied the book's concepts to our businesses and then leave with an action plan to apply them starting immediately (if you don't use it, you lose it). Who Should Join Open to anyone who'd like to learn more strategies for improving their …

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss I've tried joining a few book clubs that were genre specific (chick lit), gender specific (chicks only), and author specific (Stephen King) but as none seemed to satisfy my palate, I thought I'd try to see if there were others like me, i.e. those who can equally enjoy the likes of Jane Austen, Stephen King, Shakespeare,Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz as well as nonfiction books (The …

Having a focused book club is key to attracting like minded people, but who wants to be limited to a specific genre? When I read this month's issue of World Ark, the magazine put out by Heifer international, I knew I found my list. "Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, [they] empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope. With gifts of lives …
