An opportunity for busy folks to enjoy an evening out and discuss great reads!
The Ann Arbor Classics Book Group meets monthly on Sundays at 3pm on the ground floor of the UofM Michigan Union to discuss selections from Boxall's "1001 books you must read before you die." The books for 2012 have been chosen by the organizers and dues have been suspended. In 2013, we'll return to voting on selections and $1.00 dues for each meetup attended will be restarted (to help cover the monthly meetup.com fee). Occasionally, we will have a special event such as a film viewing, coffee …
Books introduce us to so many new ideas and new ways of looking at things. Talking about what we read will only open our eyes to so much more. Let’s explore a variety of books covering topics all over the spectrum, books new and old, for a variety of ages. We’ll read books that make an impression, and discuss all aspects of the stories, how they apply to life, the purpose they serve. Let’s have fun with this group, laugh, share ideas, and learn something new. This group is open to all; plea …
Organizers Chris Lindsay and Tim Chilcote decided to start the group because we share an enthusiasm for Michigan, in particular its prolific literary talent, as well as its breweries and wineries. The Michigan Beer & Book Club is a group out of Ann Arbor that will meet on the second Wednesday of each month to discuss one or two books that are either written by Michigan authors, or feature Michigan in some way. We'll meet at a local watering hole that serves Michigan beer and wine. If you are a f …
The Royal Oak Book Club was created out of a passion for the written word, a desire to connect with others who share that passion, and as an opportunity to enhance one another's appreciation of any given piece of literature through open discussion in a comfortable social setting. We do not promote a particular genre or theme, but are open to and would be interested in exploring any type of literature in which the group expresses interest. If you love to read, if you enjoy the stimulation, both i …

… To give us some focus and direction, we're starting off with a couple of books: Mortimer J. Adler Ten Philosophical Mistakes and Bertrand Russell's The Problems of Philosophy. They offer us a range of philosophic topics for dedicated lovers of wisdom. Then. Let's see where it goes. If it sounds like something you're interested in, join up. Max

Looking for something unusual to read? Not interested in what book Oprah's hawking this month? Want to chat with other "nerds"? Perhaps this is the meetup for you. The motivation for this book club is a lack of groups that read sci-fi or fantasy, but the goal is for all members to contribute suggestions to the reading list; it will continue to evolve as we do. And speaking of evolution, the group has decided to expand into movie viewing and discussion! Please head over to our message board for m …

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I started this group out of my interest in Positive Psychology, meditation, mindfulness, flow, resilience, optimism and related applications to health, relationships, business, parenting, education and personal growth. An interesting aside is that several current and former faculty at The University of Michigan have been instrumental in the development of Positive Psychology. I'd like to do things like a Positive Psychology book discussion, have informal chats, inv …
