Come join us at the cozy "Cafe of Life" in downtown Fenton, every other Thursday evening from 6:30-8pm. It's easy to fall in love with the energy this group creates! There are usually about 10-20 people at each meeting. We started in January 2008 with books like "Eat, Pray, Love", "A New Earth", "The Four Agreements", "The Mastery of Love" and "Loving What Is" , "Radical Forgiveness", "Power Vs. Force", "Conversations with God", "The Eastern Path to Heaven". The group run very casually and ever …
Hello, This book club was created in January 2010. Do you read everything in sight—even the cereal box? Does your desire to travel exceed your vacation budget? We love to connect with local readers who share our enthusiasm for books and ideas. We democratically choose titles for several months and meet twice a month for discussions. New members are alwa …
Founded in late 2009 by Johnny the Nomad, we've been meeting ever since to discuss books, with thirty under our belt at the beginning of 2013. We take an informal format, try to be more welcoming and inclusive to newcomers than many private book clubs, and make sure we occasionally talk about the book in between having fun. We typically meet twice per book, once on the weekend and once on a weeknight. We try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction. We pick books by consensus, and any member …
This is a non-fiction reading and exploration group. Let's read and discuss the best of history, biography, science, art, culture, politics, commentary, travel, and anything else that touches the real world. When we're not reading, we'll look for movies, museums, road trips, walks, and other ways to connect with or be inspired by what we read. Members take turns choosing our books and organizing outings.
Ready to write that book, poem, story, screenplay, blog or even diary that you've always dreamed of writing? Or to continue, re-start, or re-draft that potential masterpiece of yours? John Irving suggests: "The way you define yourself as a writer is that you write every time you have a free minute. If you didn't behave that way you would never do anything" Well, we'll take a good step by meeting every second Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm at the East Lansing Library storytime room or meeting room, dis …

Our little book club is hoping to grow. We meet monthly to chat, laugh, discuss books and laugh some more. The people in our group range in age from 25 - 35, and we're a pretty diverse bunch. We read mostly fiction, and we take turns choosing the books. The person who chooses the book for the month also hosts the next book club meeting. Our meetings are usually held at a member's home or a restaurant, and we meet the second Thursday of the month. The gatherings usually start at around 7pm, an …

This group is in its founding stage. I (Justin) am the founder and intend for this group to serve people who love to read and share knowledge, especially nonfiction works. I have found that most book meetups explore fiction, which is fine, but I feel that we lovers of nonfiction are not well represented. I intend for this group to serve people of West Michigan and northern Indiana, from South Bend to Kalamazoo.

Come to the library at 6 PM on the first Monday of every month and talk about the genre of that evening. Bring a book to use as an example, or just have a book, movie, or even game in mind to talk about. This year long series of informal discussions, moderated by library staff, will lead you to new reading experiences as you learn about hot subgenres. I ask for a small donation because I do not have a job yet, and I have very limited money. I created this group so I could make friends in Grand Rapids, since I don't know anybody here.
