Some of our recent books include: - The Aleph and Other Stories by Jorge Luis Borges - The Berlin Stories by Christopher Isherwood - Cloudstreet by Tim Winton - Italian Folktales by Italo Calvino - A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan Our discussions are inclusive, reflectiv …

Meet other women who are interested in the topic of self-improvement and psychology books. Discuss a variety of life topics that focus on improving the self, from personal strength to living authentically. We discuss the advice offered in relevant books. We dig beneath the surface, uncovering our vulnerable issues, dreams and desires. We then brainstorm and act on what we have uncovered.
A live, as opposed to on-line, book discussion group that reads speculative fiction like Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Graphic Novels and more! As this group grow I hope to include Movie, TV, and Game nights and possibly trips to events like Balticon or even New York Comic Con. I want this to be a content rich envirionment and I plan on starting some related topics on the discussion boards. If anyone would like to help with organizing or adding content, message me!

Meet kindred book lovers in a stimulating, coed book club that meets in Bethesda and in NW, DC! This book club already existed and has members, but we'd like to have new members join and we have continued doing so throughout the time the book club has existed- new blood and thoughts help make the book club even more interesting and diverse. The age range of the group is between the late twenties to the late 40s and one must fill out the form (I know it's a pain) and be selected by the group to j …
If you read a lot of contemporary fiction and nonfiction that is well-reviewed by respected critics, then this book club is for you! For simplicity's sake, we will be choosing our titles from the New York Times notable books list from the past 2-3 years. Each month, we choose one fiction and one nonfiction title. The book club will meet on the first Wednesday to discuss the fiction title and on the third Wednesday to discuss the nonfiction title. You can choose to read one or both of the books, …

This Meetup group is devoted to people who simply love books and enjoy discussing them. We come together monthly with other book lovers to discuss a pre-selected book but we include time for an open format when you can discuss any book you are currently reading and would like to tell the group about it. Any book is fair game, we just want to know what you like about it and why.

Southern Montgomery County Words and Wine is social book club for women in their 30s and 40s. We typically have two events a month – a book discussion and a social event. Each month we meet at a member's home or at a local restaurant to discuss our book selection. We spend about 30 minutes talking about the book while enjoying great food and a bottle of wine. The rest of the time we get to know one another. Members are encouraged to bring their book suggestions, because we like to read a variet …

Escape Reality is a place where friends can come together for lively and meaningful discussion about books of all kinds while enjoying some good food, good wine, and great company! Meetings are two Sundays of each month at 5:00 pm. Members will be able to take turns suggesting readings. We believe that variety is the spice of life and that everyone should have a chance to break out of their comfort zones so we don't limit what we read to any particular genre or type of novel, we want to get a li …

Monthly discussion about reading, publishing, technology, and the future. We're pretty open about topics - since we don't know what books will be in the future. The format is typically two 25-30 min. speakers (including questions) and a 25-30 min. period of roundtable discussions amongst a sharp-minded audience. The purpose is to find out what people are working on that may affect the Future of Books and reading and who are the people that want to keep abreast of what books may become. We're a …
This is just not another tiresome meetup book club that follows some predictable path well trod by about a million other meetup groups. First, we aim to energize your reading life by presenting a rich menu of unexpected offerings rather than a boring genre-specific diet. We will read delightful fables, profound novels about every aspect of the human condition, comedies, plays, thoughtful (but accessible) works of philosophy, as well as a variety of serious political, social and cultural med …

The Ladies of Leisure Book Club is for women who love to read and socialize. We will meet once a month (sometimes once every two months) to socialize, have fun, and enjoy a meal while discussing the book of the month. To mix things up a bit, we will take in a movie from time to time and discuss instead of a book. I'm inviting you to join us if this sounds like a group you would enjoy being a part of.
Who should join: Women 20+. The only other requirement is an avid interest in books and a desire to meet like-minded women in a laid back environment. Purpose of the group: To engage in good conversation about great books. During the meet-ups, we will have group members vote on books to read selecting a couple books at a time. Books will include popular fiction and non-fiction with a few classics thrown in the mix. Please post your recommendations under the "Discussion" tab. I find that s …
The Great Books Reading Group is not a literature club. It is a discussion group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to learning and exploring the past and present. We are reading from the St. John's College Reading List. As we read foundational texts in the Western tradition, we examine mysticism, history, theology, the earth and physical sciences, mathematics, philosophy and government, as well as art, literature and music.
Dessert time at local bookstore or coffee shop with book discussion monthly. Locations will vary with discussion leaders' choices. We will discuss each novel twice during the year so members have a chance to either join both discussions or come to the most convenient meet up for them. Date, Time, and Locations will be announced at least two weeks in advance. Suggestions are welcome. *Please note schedule of reading may change with group requests.
