We meet monthly for book discussions in downtown DC and the surrounding suburbs. Organizers select a theme for the month, email a poll of 4-5 books in that theme, and we read the book that gets the most votes. Meet other women who are interested in the topic of self-improvement and psychology books. Discuss a variety of life topics that focus on improving the self, from personal strength to living authentically. We discuss the advice offered in relevant books. We dig beneath the surface, uncovering our vulnerable issues, dreams and desires. We then brainstorm and act on what we have uncovered.

This group is being started for women who live in the Kentlands , Gaithersburg or other areas and wish to meet other women who like to read women authors and make new friends.  We will pick a book by a female author each month and meet to discuss it.  Sometimes we may view movies that have been made from books and compare them to the book.  This will be a chance to make this group what the members want it to be and to get an opportunity to get in on the beginning of the group as it forms.

There are so many great books out there to aid in spiritual development. I've been reading many and would love to have a group to discuss it all with. For now, I'll have meetups at my home with tea provided. I imagine this as a growing, changing group with books discussed together and depending on what everyone wants, a short meditation. For simplicity's sake, we will be choosing our titles from the New York Times notable books list from the past 2-3 years. This Meetup group is devoted to people who simply love books and enjoy discussing them. We come together monthly with other book lovers to discuss a pre-selected book but we include time for an open format when you can discuss any book you are currently reading and would like to tell the group about it.
