75 Meetup Groups match “Book Discussion” near Berwyn, IL
The Book (Was Better) Club is for cinephiles and bookworms alike. Each month, members will select a book for which a film adaptation was (or will be) made. To keep discussions productive, caps will be placed on how many may attend a given meeting, but meet-ups will be held at least twice a month. So if you don't R.S.V.P. in time for one, just join another! Events will range from discussions (over coffee, tea, wine, or my personal favorite: FOOD) to in-home movie viewings and trips to the cinema.
Love good wine, reading books, & discussing ideas with other friendly people? Then come join us at our monthly discussions while enjoying wine at House Red! The goal is to have fun discussing & sharing our thoughts & ideas on the literature we've read over glasses of wine. The group is new (Spring 2012) & was started with a small group that met at a wine bar. We're growing now & would like to welcome new members. I've noticed many groups are women only; we aren't gender restrictive, but you must …
Are you an avid reader who'd like to get together with other women regularly to discuss books over some fine wine? The aim of this group is to expand our thoughts and perceptions through great discussions about books. We all bring our own experiences, culture, and filters into the perception and understanding of literature, and hopefully these discussions will all enrich us. We'll choose serious fictional and non-fictional books that are fairly recent releases (within the last 20 years for the m …
This bookclub is open to anyone in their 20s. The limit per event is 12 people so that we can have a good, organized discussion and each member is required to pay dues of $5 either via paypal or cash at their first Meetup event (as the organizer I have to pay Meetup to maintain the website so this goes towards that). RSVPs are open for each book selection 2 weeks before the discussion so make sure you've read the book (or are reading it) before you commit to discussing it. At each Meetup we co …
These are the voyages of the Western Suburban Science-Fiction Book Club... Our continuing mission: to seek out the most compelling, discussion-provoking science-fiction (and occasionally, fantasy) novels and gather together to chat about them over dinner. It's a pretty good mission. Reading sci-fi suggests certain nerdish... leanings, but don't be afraid: our group is all-inclusive. Yes, I'm sure a few of us qualify as geeks, but we're all socially well-adjusted and reasonably freshly showered t …

This is a fun social group for anyone interested in Wine and Book Discussions. THIS IS NOT A GROUP FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A SINGLES/DATING MEETUP. Once a month a book will be selected and a meeting time/date will be chosen. The only thing you need to do is enjoy laughter, group book discussion, and of course enjoy wine! The age suggestion is 20-40 and space is often limited.

The objective of the Big Picture Book Club is focus on and discuss books addressing the big questions of human history, science and technology, social and political issues, the future, and how we, as individuals, can flourish and even make a difference in the Big Picture. You can check out an initial list of books we're interested in here. No one can read every book for every meeting. In each meeting notice, there are at least a few online "book content cheats," including links materials about t …
This club is for anyone (chico or chica!) who loves to dive in and digest the wisdom from authors like Williamson, Chopra, Dyer, and so on. I started this group because the only thing I love more than reading these books is discussing the self-growth and awareness with like-minded folks! We'll start by taking a few weeks to read the same book and then meet discuss our impressions in the Streeterville/Gold Coast area. My hope is that this group opens up hearts and minds, along with formulates n …

We are here to explore literature that help us better understand the fitness journey: diet, exercise, motivation, lifestyle. My name is Daniel Lona, and I'm a kettlebell instructor and nutritional coach, and now proud organizer of this unique and …

There are a few other book clubs out there, but not many in the NW corner of the city. I struggled to find one that was just for women and had spots available at their upcoming events. So, I started my own group. I'm also hoping to expand beyond the monthly book discussions. It would be great to meet other women that are interested in dinners, wine tasting, etc. Please note: This group has $2 dues for each 6-month period. The current period is November 2012 to April 2013. You can either pay …
A book club for readers and fans of fantasy fiction of all stripes, from urban to epic. The little sister of the Western Suburban Sci-Fi Book Club, the Suburban Fantasy Book club is for those of us who don't need as much science in their fiction. Generally we'll meet in the Western suburbs, though we may also meet in the city, and I'll make a steady effort to pick locations accessible via public transport …

I love to read and would love to belong to a book club. I live in Hyde Park and would like to form a group with people that live in the same general area. We could get together once a month (or every other month) to discuss a chosen book and enjoy each other's company. I'm in my 50's, but it would be great to have members of various ages join the club.

We're making reading a social activity. In this group, we'll gather for 'independent reading' time (my favorite part of elementary school!), outdoors when possible. The idea is very simple. Meet up, read together for a while and then follow up with discussion, reading suggestions and general mingling. We'll also have special 'literature-focused' events on occasion in which we hike, bike picnic, BBQ, etc., adjusting activities in the colder months of course. We'll do an optional book-club-type re …
