50 Meetup Groups match “Book Discussion” near Suwanee, GA
We are a smaller book club that meets monthly. We read fiction and non-fiction and have vegetarian-friendly dinners at meetings. Our members come from all walks of life. The things we have in common are that we like to read, have thoughtful discussions, and eat! It's OK to come to the meetings even if you didn't like the book or couldn't finish the book. Also, you don't have to be vegetarian to join, and this group is NOT designed as a forum for reading/discussing books about vegetarianism.

The purpose of this group is to read and discuss the ancient collection of books known as The Holy Bible. This is an open discussion about the Bible as a collection of inspired writings from God. After belonging to other reading groups with much younger members I have come to realize that my life experiences and theirs are vastly different. Being separated by several generations means you will have a very different take on the books you read. That would be fine if the younger people were open-minded enough to consider that I may know what I'm talking about when discussing housewives from the 50's. After all, my mother was one of them. But they did not do that. They simply fed me the pa …

Founded in 2010, the Buford Book Club focuses on discussing a wide variety of books. Since many of our members work, we try to keep things simple by meeting in public places instead of in homes. We occasionally change the venue to make it convenient for everyone at some point during the year because some members come from 20 miles away. Our purpose is to foster the love of reading, expand reading genres, and gain insight from learning from others. You should join if you love books, meeting …

I teach M-Th and have many family obligations evenings and weekends. I would love to meet up with folks for a morning book club. We'll meet one Friday morning a month at an East Cobb restaurant for brunch and a book chat. Titles a bit more sophisticated than Harlequin Romances (not that there's anything wrong with that!) but not so complex and "heady" that your brain has to hurt while reading it. Members will be encouraged to take turns selecting books and restaurants.

This is a support group for those women on the journey to recovery from maternal narcissism. We consist of women whom grew up with mothers with NPD. We believe healing comes from a place of understanding and validation of where we've been and what we've been through. Our weekly meetings are held over the phone. We discuss the book "Will I Ever Be Good Enough" writen by Dr. Karyl McBride. We use this book as our tool to understanding ourselves and our mothers. This is mainly a book discussion and …
I'm starting this group because one of my New Years resolutions was to start reading the classics, from Epic of Gilgamesh to The Iliad to Pride and Prejudice to Slaughterhouse Five. All the truly great pieces of literature that I've missed. I thought it would be much more fun to have a group reading together so that we could discuss and delve into the books (or just meet for coffee and talk about whether we like the book or not). I belong to other book clubs for modern literature, but the cla …

I've always wished that I majored in Women's Studies, but I figure this group will help me (us) become more familiar with feminist theory/literature. This is a group that reads feminist works of all kinds and then has lively discussions about them. Feel free to suggest books that you'd like to read. We meet at 6:30pm on the first Friday of the month at the Panera Bread on Lawrenceville-Suwanee (911 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd). We have a facebook group at gwinnettfeministreaders@groups.f

Are you looking to connect with other progressive Christians? We're a group of curious, questioning, opinionated folks trying to figure out where our faith in a radical, radically welcoming Jesus meets real life. And we like books! We gather twice a month to discuss popular theology, non-fiction, and novels. In the past couple of months we've tackled books by Marcus Borg, Octavia Butler, Shane Claiborne, Doug Pagitt, and Kate Braestrup. This group is sponsored by Praxis Church UCC, a progressiv …

I chose "Creating Love" as our first book and inspiration for this meetup when I heard Oprah interviewing the author recently. Future book ideas can be anything of interest to the group that allows us to grow and become more of the types of people that we want to become. After all, we are all still works in progress. This group is open to anyone wanting to know themselves and others better. The only requirement: an open, non-judgmental heart.
Comida y Conversación - Spanish Language Meetup: Enjoy some great food and speak Spanish with others who have an interest in the language. This is a group for everyone interested in discussing big ideas in a forum open to a wide range of perspectives, attitudes, opinions, and beliefs. We'll choose topics in philosophy, politics, religion, and other categories typically considered taboo outside homogeneous gatherings. Meetups will start with a short video presenting a premise (< 20 min., e.g. TED.com), followed by a lively round table discussion. Arguing is strongly encouraged, but civility is always required. In other words, we'd l …
This is a group for Christian single adults who are looking to meet others while at the same time grow closer to God. We will meet to read and discuss various Christian books and have fun social activities scheduled monthly. Because we want everyone to feel comfortable talking and sharing about adult issues, our meetings and events are ADULT ONLY (unless clearly stated kid-friendly on the event itself)
I want to form a book club for women in the Perimeter area (Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs) who are in their 30s and 40s. Each month one person from the group will choose a book and we will meet on a monthly basis at an area restaurant to discuss it. If you love reading books and dining out, and if this type of group sounds interesting to you, please contact me at kristinrweber@yahoo.com. I am going to limit the size of the group to around 12 - 15 ladies, so join fast!
Dinner with a twist… “You know that scene in the deli from the movie When Harry Met Sally? That’s what I feel about food when it’s really good.” This quote, from Malcolm Gladwell’s novel Blink, is from a woman who is a professional food taster. How’s that for a dream job?! If you’re like me – single, 40+ and you enjoy cooking, learning and reading about food as much as you do eating it, then pull up a seat and join us at the dinner table, in the classroom, a book discussion - or anywhere else ou …
