We will gather monthly in a public place to discuss a specific book. It is not necessary to have completed the book to take part in discussions but its helpful to have read enough to form some opinions about it. I hope we will choose a wide variety of books to read and discuss. It would be better if group books are available in paperback and/or through the public library.

The "East Orlando Twenty-Something Book Club" is for women and men in their twenties who would like to participate in a book club on the East side of Orlando. Why the twenties? Simply because I'm somewhat new to the area and looking to meet people around my age. Also because the "East Orlando Book Club" group name was already taken, hehe! I decided to found this Meetup group because I was finding it difficult to get involved in a few book clubs that are already established in Orlando. During "Ea …

Have you ever wondered how your beliefs were shaped by what your parents taught you? Then this book club is for you! I grew up in a Christian home where my parents told me to believe in God. A series of tragic life events left me questioning if He was out there. Recently I wanted to settle that question on more objective reasons t …

I started this meetup because all the other book clubs that I've attended did not eat, and although I love to read, I am equally a lover of food! We will meet roughly about once a month to discuss a book over a budget friendly dinner. We will try to vote on which books to read, so that we get to read different genre and hopefully cover material that everyone likes. What could be better than reading and enjoying a book that you would never have pick for yourself? If you love to read and love to …

Join us and meet new people who have the same passion you do!
Leaving no page unturned, and no glass empty! A new twist on an old idea (a 'novel' concept, if you'll pardon the pun)...Book clubs and reading groups are great, but 'ABC Club' aims to shake those notions up just a bit. 'ABC Club' is for women only (sorry guys!) and meets at least once a month to hold a book discussion, and also to share in a yummy potluck gathering including appetizers (finger foods) and beverages (can be of the ‘adult’ variety, but doesn’t necessarily have to be). Books may b …
I want to create a group of readers to meet bi-weekly or monthly to discuss a book we all have choosen to read. I'm looking for a variety of participants, guys, gals, younger, older, middle age, etc. I believe a mixed group leads to a variety of opinions we all can learn from, even if we don't agree. The books will be a variety of fiction, best sellers and non-fiction. Once a critical mass of six or so people sign up, we'll start deciding on when and where to meet and what book to start off with …

This group is for Jacksonville area ladies who are interested in books, beer, and meeting new people. Since the area draws a lot of new-in-towners, this is a great spot to not only explore a new brewery or restaurant venue, but also meet others who might be new in town or just looking to broaden their horizons. We will be selecting one book to read each month based on whichever gets the highest "votes" during each meeting and then select a place to meet for the next month. If you have any questi …

At our Junto meetings, I envision that we'll discuss ethics, politics and philosophy. I envision that the meeting will be conducted in the sincere spirit of inquiry after truth. Any member can host a meeting. I prefer the 9 topic (10 minutes per topic) format with the goal of the official meeting lasting under two hours. We can meet at libraries or homes or restaurants. If you want to host a meeting, please just let me know and I'll put it on the calendar. Hosting a meeting means that you desig …
I recently watched the film version of Pride and Prejudice, and enjoyed it so much I started re-reading the book and watching other Austen movies, including Sense and Sensibility and the recent "The Jane Austen Book Club." I thought it might be fun to join up with other Austen fans in Jax, and perhaps structure a Book Club similar to the one in the film.
It's time to take another look at some of those books we read (or pretended to read) in high school or college. If you went to high school in the 40s or 50s, you actually read books! Authors of fiction such as Dickens, Tolstoy, Camus, Kipling, and Elliott are some of the ones to re-consider. Then there's all that nonfiction, of course, especially the ones we were supposed to read in history, social studies, anthropology and philosophy classes. I've discovered that now, as a gray-haired grandma, …

This is a women's book club for fun, relatively fast reads, what is known as "Chick Lit" - our taste varies (check our meet up list). We also go to the movies to watch "Chick Flicks" usually based on a book but, sometimes just because we really want to watch it with the girls! We alternate among "official" chick lit (but not too fluffy so we have something to talk about!) and more "serious" books. You can see our past book list (on the files section) to see what we have read. You can also find …
This is a fun book group - not too serious! We all agree that we have read some wonderful books (some books we would never have picked up on our own)!! We enjoy the discussions.
