This diverse group meets in the city of San Francisco about once a month. We welcome suggestions and encourage voting about what types of books to read and what types of venues to drink in. Poetry, short stories, plays, novels, history, philosophy, science, not necessarily in that order, classics that are worthy of discussion, current and past, western and non-western, these are the works we discuss. The discussion is what is most important. We discuss these works to enlarge our understanding of the ideas that shape our culture and gain a deeper appreciation for what it means to be human.

This is a meetup for those interested in reading the books that are on the NY Times Fiction best seller list or others, and currently or in the past! We meet somewhere central in San Francisco, monthly, to discuss the book, having already read it. We meet in a restaurant so that those who want to eat can, but it is not required!

Novel Lovers of Sonoma County, CA (formerly Novel Lovers of Sebastopol) is a book discussion group where we talk in depth about contemporary literary fiction. We choose a book a month and all agree to read it (I know that's not always a requirement for a book club!) and then we get together on a Sunday afternoon to discuss it. For the get togethers we look forward to starting the day early with both a discussion about the month's book and a walk.  The discussion may be at a cafe or park immediately before or after the walk. This meeting is once a month for an early weekend morning walk around, for example, Spring Lake, in Santa Rosa.

So what's the worst part of most book groups? Being forced to read a book you simply don't want to read. And what's the best part: getting all those great book recommendations! Hello All. I'm a long-time member of the group described in CQ Yarbro's "Messages From Michael" books. I'm offering to host a discussion group in the San Francisco area for those interested in the material presented in the Michael books.

The purpose of this group is to bring together people who are single, over 55, and would love to discuss their favorite, or even someone else's favorite book or movie.  On the way to doing this we could discuss the issues raised in the book/movie, become a community of friends and enjoy each other's company.
