I set this up as I need more motivation to read regularly !! If you are reading this, you probably do too !! Plus I would like to meet other readers to chat about the last book read - and what better place than in one of Henley's fine venues over a glass of something ! I see myself as the club founder not the leader, so choosing the book and the venue rotates across us all ... For the moment we feel we have enough members, as a Book Club can only be so big, as since setting this up in Jan 2011 …
This group is open to anyone who likes reading and likes to share their views on books. A degree in English Literature is not required! We'll meet up on the second Wednesday of each month to talk about a book that members have voted to read.
Although called Caversham Critics, this book group is open to all friendly Reading based fiction lovers. We shall explore old and modern classics, contemporary fiction, and perhaps even pretend to be judges by comparing our notes on the shortlists for the big literary prizes. We aim to meet monthly in a pub in central Reading. We are just getting started, so if the club sounds like your cup of tea, don't hesitate, join and spread the word!
There are no upcoming Meetups.
This book club will meet every 6 weeks and read the top ten contemporary South Asian authors you should know for 2012. All who are interested in writers from that part of the world are welcome.
We recently moved to Maidenhead and I miss my old book group. Ironically now I have a longer commute I have more time to actually read! If you would like to join an evening book group which would encourage you to read something you might otherwise not have picked up, but which isn't too high-brow, then please get in touch. I am female, middle aged (ahem) with a young family but obviously you don't have to be the same, it just gives you an idea !
There are no upcoming Meetups.
We have been studying Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich for a year and realised that it would be great to mastermind with more like-minded people. As a group we decide what to read each week and come to the meeting to discuss and expand our knowledge using study notes. The meeting usually lasts 1.5 hours. This group would suit anyone who enjoys personal growth especially those who a …
I received direct communication from Source to start ACIM group. So I did. The group meets once a month in my home and the overall purpose is to discuss the principles of the course and application to daily life. Anyone is welcome from complete beginners to long-term students. For those with little knowledge of ACIM core principles may I suggest books such as: 1. Return To Love by Marianne Williamson 2. A talk given on ACIM An Introduction by Ken Wapnick 3. Disappearance of the Universe by Gar …
… Maybe we can take turn reading a little paragraph of a book. We can have some topics of discussions. Again no one should feel they have to participate. Maybe some of us want to practice their speaking skills by doing a presentation of their choice? It can be a great place and opportunity to practice your interaction skills in a safe environment and at your own pace. I have attended some meet-ups of this kind in London and it was really great and very helpful. Please, please be courageous and com …
