… There is also time and space for a general discussion of the stories we've read (or haven't read), but most of the session is devoted to reading and discussing this one story aloud and in-the-moment. We finish with a poem which has some link (thematic or otherwise) to the story we've been discussing. So why do we do it like this? a) LESS PRESSURE: Bookclub people often find themselves buying the book but just not having enough time to read it. For our meetups, you can still come along to the s …
Let's eat and drink at great venues, meet new friends who live nearby and enrich our minds at the same time! This group has a local focus and is designed for people living in the vicinity of Hampton Court/Teddington. We'll read one book a month and then meet up at a regular time to discuss it. We'll meet at an interesting, new local restaurant, pub or café, or at people's homes if they're willing to make it festive with a few snacks and drinks! Book selection will rotate among the members, and …

This is a London-based book club for everyone that wants to meet monthly to discuss a 'short' book over a drink. Whether it's because you're too busy or too lazy (like me) to read a novel, appreciate shorter books, or want to supplement your current book club, everyone is welcome. The aim is to meet once a month at a pub on a weekday evening to discuss the month's book whilst meeting new people and having a laugh in the process. If you're on Facebook, why not join our group: http://www.faceboo …
Do you know how the World is going to end? These authors do! We are a group of friends who realized that we are interested in post-apocalyptic books and as half joke decided to start a book club dedicated to it. We will be meeting once a month in a pub in Central London to chat about a pre-chosen post-apocalyptic themed book, as well as organizing movie nights and pub crawls. Also, we are an equal opportunity group and don't discriminate against those who are into dystopic lit, so if you fancy …

Ever wondered what the author was thinking when they wrote a novel? We have created a meet up just for those who want to meet the author and then read their book with the knowledge of the objective and goals. Welcome to The Tea Box’s new Noveltea Book Club – a unique new way of meeting to discuss some of your favourite books from our local community of Authors – with niche to best-selling books on the agenda over the term. The Author will Introduce you to there book and then two weeks later afte …
There are few book groups in the area but they seem to be quite spiritual and intellectual. This club is a chance for like minded people to meet and discuss any topic of book we like. Every month, the group will decide on which book to read and we will meet once a month to discuss what we thought.

I love to read and am sure I can come up with a read, we could meet fortnightly, we would need to find a quiet pub somewhere we could go and discuss the book... If your interested great let me know or join up. Depending on numbers we could do a 1 pound per meeting, obviously there is a book cost involved but am sure we could source cheaply from somewhere..

I have tried many book clubs, film clubs, and have yet to find the one that had a good balance between a really good discussion and a really good day/night out. So why not start one myself? Passionate about film and literature, and not one to pass up a good glass of wine or beer, this is a group for those who enjoy all of the above. Meetups to be held at various north of the river drinking establishments.
I set this up as I need more motivation to read regularly !! If you are reading this, you probably do too !! Plus I would like to meet other readers to chat about the last book read - and what better place than in one of Henley's fine venues over a glass of something ! I see myself as the club founder not the leader, so choosing the book and the venue rotates across us all ... For the moment we feel we have enough members, as a Book Club can only be so big, as since setting this up in Jan 2011 …

Hi and welcome to Fulham's Book Club! My name is Maja, I just recently moved to Fulham and really like it... so do I like reading. I personally would like to meet interesting people to talk with, about interesting books, but also to make new friends in Fulham. For the beginning I think we're just meeting for some drinks and deciding on a book to read, and then let's take it from there :) Any questions/suggestions/ideas very welcome! Looking forward to some nice meetups. Warm regards, Maja
Although called Caversham Critics, this book group is open to all friendly Reading based fiction lovers. We shall explore old and modern classics, contemporary fiction, and perhaps even pretend to be judges by comparing our notes on the shortlists for the big literary prizes. We aim to meet monthly in a pub in central Reading. We are just getting started, so if the club sounds like your cup of tea, don't hesitate, join and spread the word!
We recently moved to Maidenhead and I miss my old book group. Ironically now I have a longer commute I have more time to actually read! If you would like to join an evening book group which would encourage you to read something you might otherwise not have picked up, but which isn't too high-brow, then please get in touch. I am female, middle aged (ahem) with a young family but obviously you don't have to be the same, it just gives you an idea !

… Also there may be occasions when a booking fee is charged. Therefore we charge a small admin fee for each event. * We request all members have a face photo when joining the group, it helps us ensure we remain female only and helps us keep an eye out for you at an event or new friends contact you through the site afterwards! * We keep our events small so everyone can get to know each other. As such we want those who want to attend to be able to do so. For this reason we have the following polic …

I created this group for all Jane Austen enthusiasts, who are interested in attending events related to this author happening in and around London with like-minded people. We shall also discuss her novels through informal meetings. Everybody is welcome, whether you are a dedicated Janeite, or are just curious to discover more about her life and novels! There will be various meetups more loosely based on Jane Austen, the Regency era, British Art of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, dependi …
We're slowly making our way through the Guardian's list of 1000 novels everyone must read, which covers novels about love, crime, comedy, family and self, state of the nation, science fiction and fantasy, and war and travel. We work our way through the categories each month, and invite members to nominate books from the list. Once nominations have been received, all members vote for their choice. The book club is for people living in and around Chiswick, as well as those who don't mind travell …

We have been studying Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich for a year and realised that it would be great to mastermind with more like-minded people. The purpose of the group is to gain an in-depth understanding of the methods that are detailed in the book. As a group we decide what to read each week and come to the meeting to discuss and expand our knowledge using study notes. The meeting usually lasts 1.5 hours. This group would suit anyone who enjoys personal growth especially those who a …
I received direct communication from Source to start ACIM group. So I did. The group meets once a month in my home and the overall purpose is to discuss the principles of the course and application to daily life. Anyone is welcome from complete beginners to long-term students. For those with little knowledge of ACIM core principles may I suggest books such as: 1. Return To Love by Marianne Williamson 2. A talk given on ACIM An Introduction by Ken Wapnick 3. Disappearance of the Universe by Gar …
